Prayer, Art, Conversation: Outreach in England
How do you grow a new church project that reaches nonbelievers in the West? Through prayer and creativity! Two All Nations missionaries, originally from Europe themselves, have been working with a team and faithfully cultivating a project in Exeter, England, designed to reach out to people who don't want to be involved in regular church. They're building relationships through art, prayer, and conversation.
England is facing a bit of a cultural identity crisis these days. Lots of factors are coming together in a perfect storm: changing worldviews and values, a surge in immigration in recent years, a fragile economy, a changing social system... Everyone is asking, "Who are we, now? And how do we connect with one another?"
The project in Exeter doesn't call themselves a church. Instead, they're putting together art classes and activities with a coffee shop and a prayer room (the part they call the "House of Prayer"). People stop by, wondering what this new thing is happening around the community and relationships are born. From there, people are coming to know Jesus with a heart for the arts, prayer, and mission in these tumultuous times.
